Excerpt from the chapter on
Leo Little:
“It was night, actually, I was 17 years old then.
At the time I was using drugs heavily, drinking, and it’s partly why I was
fired from my job with a car payment due. I became desperate, looking for easy
money so me and friend decided to rob someone. We robbed two people in similar
patterns and the second time (which was rather greedy of us by the way) turned
out totally different. I was intoxicated, with the man having knelt right in
front of me on a pitch black, dark country road; with the emergency lights on
his car blinking the only light out there; in the middle of winter, I shot the
man, Christopher Antonio Chavez in the head for no reason at all. I was out of
my mind, perhaps hallucinating, I don’t really know. He was a Christian man,
but that doesn’t offer me or our families much consolation for such a loss. I
heard at my trial that he was a really good man. I keep it in the back of my
mind that maybe this was God’s purpose. Something to think about, that’s for
sure.”
Excerpt from the chapter on
Clay Smith:
“I just wanted you to know I got my date. It’s May
8th. I just wrote you a letter a few days ago so I’m not going to say a whole
lot.
Can you imagine looking at Jesus and touching Him
for real? Not a dream or a vision but being physically in His presence. What
heart felt love! What Joy! 44 more days.”
Excerpt from the chapter on
David Berkowitz The Son of Sam:
“I am not sharing this message to simply tell you
an interesting story. Rather I want you to taste the goodness of God in my
life, a man who was once a devil worshipper and a murderer, to show you that
Jesus Christ is about forgiveness, hope and change.
I was involved in the occult and I got burned. I
became a cruel killer and threw away my life as well as destroyed the lives of
others. Now I have discovered that Christ is my answer and my hope. He broke
the chains of mental confusion and depression that had me bound. Today I have
placed my life in His hands. I only wish I knew Jesus before all these crimes
happened - they would not have happened.”
